This document outlines the Terms of Reference for the national technical working group (TWG) on WASH in health care facilities in Kenya. It defines the TWG’s objectives, roles, guiding principles, and membership structure, aiming to support national WASH FIT roll-out, improve coordination and resource mobilization, guide policy, and strengthen infection prevention and climate resilience.

Costed Road Map of Water, Sanitation and Hygiene (WASH) in Healthcare Facilities of I.R. Iran (2023) (English)
This comprehensive national roadmap presents Iran’s multi-year plan to strengthen WASH services in healthcare facilities. It follows WHO/UNICEF guidance and builds on the 2021 national WASH situational analysis. Developed through stakeholder consultation and technical working groups, the roadmap includes national objectives, regulatory review, costing of environmental health services using UNC’s toolkit, and defines short- and medium-term targets to improve quality of care, IPC, waste management, and access to WASH for vulnerable populations.

WASH FIT training in Uganda- 2024
A comprehensive five-day training program was conducted from August 5th to 9th, 2024, in Jinja, Uganda. The training garnered participation from a total of 43 attendees representing various central-level organizations. Notable participants included personnel from the Ministry of Health, Ministry of Water and Environment, Rural Water Sanitation Regional Centers, and specifically selected Assistant District Health Officers overseeing Environmental Health. In addition to these key stakeholders, esteemed partners such as Amref Health Africa in Uganda, the Infection Prevention Institute, Water for People, as well as national and regional staff from UNICEF and WHO were actively engaged throughout the duration of the training session.
WASH-in-Healthcare Facilities: Trainers’ Guide (The WASH Foundation)
The WASH Foundation’s WASH-in-Healthcare Facilities (WinHCF) program is designed to support UNICEF and the World Health Organization (WHO) in their efforts to train healthcare facility staff to include water, sanitation, and hygiene (WASH) in health plans, budgets, and operations. This staff training program provides learning materials, support, monitoring, and evaluation opportunities to healthcare facility staff members to strengthen their capacities. The goal is to train healthcare facility staff and management to integrate good WASH practices and education into annual health sector planning, budgeting, and programming. These integrations will enable healthcare facility staff members to deliver quality services and serve as peer trainers. This document is the trainer’s guide to achieving that.

Water Quality Testing & Analysis and WASH in Health Care Facility Training – Mozambique
A training organized by MoH with financial and technical support of WHO from 12-16 December 2022 in Songo district for Tete province health emergency contingency plan development. The overall purpose of this capacity-building training was to train the participants on the use of the portable water quality test kit for analyses of water quality and to create awareness and skill among the trainees, integration of WASH FIT with ongoing WASH initiatives and programs in health care facilities. Furthermore, hands-on how to develop an incremental improvement action plan for healthcare facilities based on the risk factors to be assessed during a field visit to health facilities.
