This document is the national guidelines for water, sanitation and hygiene in healthcare facilities, it was developed to address the gaps in WASH in healthcare facilities. The guidelines include how to manage healthcare waste, environmental cleaning and monitoring of WASH in healthcare facilities through coordination, monitoring and reporting. Water Quality Testing & Analysis and WASH in Health Care Facility Training-Mozambique in December 2022

A training organized by MoH with financial and technical support of WHO from 12-16 December 2022 in Songo district for Tete province health emergency contingency plan development. The overall purpose of this capacity-building training was to train the participants on the use of the portable water quality test kit for analyses of water quality and to create awareness and skill among the trainees, integration of WASH FIT with ongoing WASH initiatives and programs in health care facilities. Furthermore, hands-on how to develop an incremental improvement action plan for healthcare facilities based on the risk factors to be assessed during a field visit to health facilities. In 2020, the COVID-19 pandemic shocked health systems, demanding the urgent identification and prioritization of immediate health care facility needs. Beginning in August 2020, USAID’s MOMENTUM Country and Global Leadership provided rapid technical and capacity development assistance to local health networks in Sierra Leone and four other countries to improve facility readiness in water sanitation and hygiene (WASH) and infection prevention and control (IPC). This technical brief details the impact and outcomes of this work, as well as lessons learned to inform future WASH and IPC efforts in health care facilities and quality improvement programming.
