Knowledge, attitudes, and practices of healthcare waste management among Zambian health care workers (2022)

Poor management of health care waste poses a serious threat to the health of health care workers, patients and communities. In developing countries, adequate health care waste
management (HCWM) is often challenging. To address this, the Zambian Health Services Improvement Project with HCWM as a component, was implemented in five Zambian provinces (Luapula, Muchinga, Northern, North-Western and Western Provinces), under which this cross-sectional study was conducted to identify the knowledge, attitudes, and practices of health care workers on HCWM. National Stragtegic Plan for Infection Prevention and Control (2022-2032)

This document was developed in line with the Zambia National Health Strategic Plan (ZNHSP) 2022. It highlights and provides strategic guidelines in the implementation of Infection Prevention and Control (IPC) activities for the next ten years at the national and sub-national levels. The main focus of IPC is to prevent and control the spread of diseases among patients, health care providers, and caregivers in both public and health care facilities, including communities, using a holistic approach that integrates all IPC thematic areas in mitigating and preventing healthcare-associated infections and antimicrobial resistance.

Cette décision de 2022 du Ministère de la Santé et du Développement Social du Mali crée officiellement une « Task Force » nationale sur l’eau, l’hygiène, l’assainissement et la prévention et le contrôle des infections (WASH/PCI) dans les établissements de santé. Le texte établit le mandat, les responsabilités, la composition, les procédures de réunion et le fonctionnement du groupe. L’objectif est de renforcer la coordination, l’analyse technique, le suivi, et la normalisation des interventions WASH/PCI. Le document comprend également les termes de référence précisant les tâches du secrétariat, les modalités logistiques et de rapportage, ainsi que les règles de participation.

The text outlines the mandate, responsibilities, composition, meeting procedures, and operation of the group. Its aim is to improve coordination, technical review, monitoring, and standardization of WASH/IPC interventions. The document also includes terms of reference detailing the secretariat’s duties, logistical arrangements, reporting requirements, and participation guidelines.

Plan Stratégique National de Prévention et de Contrôle des Infections (PCI) au Mali (2022) (French); National Strategic Plan for Infection Prevention and Control (IPC) in Mali

Ce plan stratégique de deuxième génération (2023–2027) renforce les efforts du Mali en matière de prévention et de contrôle des infections (PCI) dans l’ensemble du secteur de la santé. Il prévoit des actions pour réduire les infections associées aux soins, lutter contre la résistance aux antimicrobiens (RAM), améliorer les infrastructures, renforcer la formation du personnel de santé et renforcer la préparation aux situations d’urgence (COVID-19, Ebola). Élaboré par le Ministère de la Santé avec le soutien de l’OMS et de l’USAID.

This second-generation strategic plan (2023–2027) strengthens Mali’s efforts in infection prevention and control (IPC) across the health sector. It includes actions for reducing healthcare-associated infections, addressing antimicrobial resistance (AMR), improving infrastructure, strengthening health worker training, and enhancing emergency preparedness (COVID-19, Ebola). Developed by the Ministry of Health with WHO and USAID support.

WASH in Health Care Facilities Roadmap (2022) (English)

This national roadmap outlines Malawi’s strategic plan to achieve universal WASH in healthcare facilities by 2030. It includes eight action areas: situational analysis, national targets, standards, infrastructure, monitoring, workforce development, community engagement, and operational research. The roadmap supports alignment with WHA resolutions and global SDG targets.

HeRAMS Afghanistan Baseline Report (2022)

This is the first report of the HeRAMS Afghanistan Baseline Report 2022 series focusing on the operational status of health facilities, the level and type of support provided by partners, and availability of basic amenities. HeRAMS has been deployed in Afghanistan since November 2021 and has allowed for the assessment of 2730 health facilities across the country, against a total estimate of 3012 to date. This analysis was produced based on the data collected up to March 22nd, 2022 while the deployment of HeRAMS, including data verification and validation, continues. Hence, this analysis is not final and is produced solely for the purpose of informing operations
