This document marks one year from the June 19 2019 commitments meeting held in Washington D.C. and highlights some of the progress made over the year, featuring 31 organizations (the "Trailblazers") who continue to be committed to improving WASH in health care facilities.

This literature review consists 110 published articles, reports, and case studies from  scientific journals and grey literature that specifically focus on water, sanitation, hygiene, cleaning, and waste management in healthcare facilities in low- and middle-income countries. They are organized by prevailing theme.

This perspective piece elaborates on theimportance of optimal WASH and future scopes in HCFs during the post COVID19 pandemic era.

This document accompanies the presentations and recordings for the webinar series which WHO and UNICEF hosted in April 2020. The presenters from each webinar episode have provided answers to the questions that participants asked. If you have a question that is not answered in the document, please contact washinhcf@who.int.
